Abigail Enelow Myers MN, ARNP

cropped-abby-enelow_ballard-shoot-71.jpgI am a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner in private practice for over 20 years. I have worked in a variety of other settings in the past. Among those, I was the co-director and therapist at the Providence Psychiatric Day Hospital and a clinician at Hall Health, student mental health clinic, at the University of Washington.

My passion for my work started at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Continuing my education, I completed my graduate degree at the University of Washington and became licensed as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in 1985.

In the early 1990’s, I decided to specialize in the area of women’s mental health. Through a variety of educational trainings, supervision, and work with the organization Depression After Delivery (DAD), my practice began to focus primarily on issues related to perinatal mental health.

Treatment

My focus is primarily on the treatment of women ages 18 and over who have a variety of reproductive-related mental health challenges. My treatment approach begins with evaluation and recommendations, followed by supportive psychotherapy and if appropriate, medication management. If possible, I like to see both partners for 1 or 2 sessions to provide education about symptoms and treatment options. I also provide information on support resources in the community.

In addition to a perinatal focus, I see women who are experiencing perimenopausal and menopausal related mood disorders. Mid-life identity changes often accompany menopausal hormonal changes. I provide psychotherapy for these challenges.
The emotional trials of infertility are another area of my practice services.

For the general population, which includes men, I provide both therapy and medication management. I also provide medication management for other therapistsʼ patients.
